FAQ

What is your experience with wedding photography?

I first got into photography when I was 15 years old, and being an early 90’s baby it’s been my passion for more than half my life. I studied Visual Arts and Film Studies at UVic and graduated in 2014 with a BFA. After being in the wedding photography world for 10 years, I have shot well over 200 weddings in BC! Being familiar with how weddings are structured, and having keen eye for small details and anticipating moments is critical to capturing a wedding in a well rounded way! On top of that, I am extremely familiar with my gear and settings.

What gear do you use?

I shoot on a Canon R5 and a Canon EOS R and a variety of lenses. The ones I use the most are my 28-70mm f2.0, 70-200mm f.2.8, and 85mm f1.2 to get a variety of shots from wide, to super close up, to dreamy AF. I also used both on and off camera flashes (depending on the scenario), so I am ready for all kinds of lighting situations!

Where are your based, and what are the travel fees?

I am based in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, roughly 90 minutes before Tofino on Highway 4. That being said, I shoot all over the island from Victoria to Campbell River, the Gulf Islands and beyond. Basic travel expenses throughout Vancouver Island are included in all of my wedding packages and elopement packages. If you’re looking at eloping or having a destination elsewhere in BC, Canada or internationally, count me in! My flat rate travel fees are $500 for the Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast, and Lower Mainland. Everywhere else in BC is $800, and Canada Wide is $1400. You are welcome to contact me for a travel quote for international destinations. Currently, the only place I don’t offer travel to is the US.

We are awkward in front of the camera, can you help with this?

Absolutely!! You probably have no idea how many couples I have had tell me this. My posing method is all about movement and having fun! During your session, I will offer multiple different prompts and cues to get you moving and interacting together, resulting in natural and authentic photos of you together!

How do you edit the photos?

All of the best images from your wedding or session are edited by me using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I will personally crop, colour, and exposure correct your images consistent with my personal editing style (golden, rich, and colourful). Everything you receive will be edited to the same standard you see on my website and Instagram. Basic retouching is also done to anything temporary, such as pimples, bruises, and distracting single hairs. More extensive retouching is available on request.

How long will it take for us to receive our final gallery?

Your images will be delivered between 8-12 weeks after your wedding or elopement, and within 4-8 weeks or engagement and lifestyle sessions. While I no longer provide USBs your images are delivered securely via a private online gallery where you can download the high-res files to your device and easily share them with friends and family!

Can we print our own photos?

I highly recommend printing your images through my partner lab right from your gallery to ensure amazing quality. However, all my packages include printing rights so you are also welcome to download the high resolution JPEGS and print them at the lab of your choosing! This is an option that just makes sense to me, so if your prints are ever lost you can have everything re-printed without the extra step of repurchasing them through me.

Can we have access to the RAW files?

The short answer to that is no. I have spent years honing my artistic vision, and providing RAW files might compromise the intended quality and style of my work. While it they offer immense creative potential, they also require specialized software and technical expertise to edit effectively. By receiving your edited images in JPEG format, you can enjoy the intended final result while still having the flexibility to share, print, and cherish the images with ease.
